EFAD has supported the work of the European Commission since the Federation was established in 1978.
Consultations has been made throughout the years regarding matters of the educational and dietetic profession standards, as well as on importance of food and nutrition to the health and human rights of the citizens of Europe.
EFAD joined the EU Health Policy Platform and actively participates in the Thematic Networks calls.
The European Dietetic Action Plan (EuDAP) was launched in 2015 showing the commitment by dietitians throughout Europe to take actions that would improve health for all, through food and nutrition. The purpose of the EuDAP was to achieve better nutrition and sustainable health, through pro-active engagement with Health 2020, the WHO-European Food and Nutrition Action Plan (2015-2020).
In 2018 EFAD was accredited to the WHO Europe as a non-state actor. This allows us to improve further collaboration on European level and work toward better health in Europe in which nutrition is inseparable.
