How is EFAD governed?
EFAD is governed by these Articles and Organisational Procedures.
EFAD relies on the work of its committees, networks, experts and representatives to deliver the Strategic Plan and Annual Work Plans.
Everyone involved in the work of EFAD must adhere to the EFAD values that guide how we make decisions and define our approach to partnership and collaboration.
Most work is carried out voluntarily, supported by a paid secretariat. Everyone working for, or representing EFAD, follows our Guidelines for EFAD Committees, Networks, Experts & Representatives.
Structure of EFAD
The General Meeting is the policy and decision-making body of EFAD.
The General Meeting is made up of representatives (delegates) from each of the full member National Dietetic Associations (NDAs). Each NDA can appoint two delegates, one of whom would usually be the President or Chairperson. One delegate is authorised to vote on behalf of each NDA at the General Meeting.
The Honorary President and the Executive Committee (which manages EFAD) are elected by the General Meeting.
The General Meeting also oversees articles, the Strategic Plan, resolutions, policies, strategies and standards.
Honorary President
The Honorary President is responsible for the activities and decisions undertaken in the interests of EFAD.
The Honorary President is elected in a personal capacity. The position is sponsored by EFAD, not by any individual national dietetic association. EFAD covers travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses when the Honorary President represents the Federation and for Executive Committee and General Meetings. In addition, the Honorary President receives an allowance per annum for time spent on EFAD activities.
The Executive Committee and the Honorary President plan and organise the activities of the Federation in liaison with the Executive Director. They maintain links with professional and other organisations and groups, including the European Union and Non-Governmental-Organisations (NGOs).
