Database of national Food-Based Dietary Guidelines

The JRC has published an overview of all Food-Based Dietary Guidelines (FBDGs) for the healthy adult population currently in place in the EU-28 plus Switzerland, Iceland, and Norway. This overview collates quantitative and qualitative intake recommendations for commonly encountered food groups (e.g. fruit & vegetables, starchy foods, dairy) and nutrients (salt, sugar). It furthermore covers recommendations encountered in the FBDG source documents for diet variety, healthy lifestyles, physical activity, body weight management, and sustainability. All information was validated by Member States representatives on the High Level Group on Nutrition and Physical Activity. We encourage stakeholders to make ample use of this new resource, which is hosted on the Commission's Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Knowledge Gateway.
