EFAD has supported the work of the Council of Europe since the Federation was established. The Council of Europe provides a Forum for the recognition of the importance of food and nutrition to the health and human rights of the citizens of Europe.

Recent resolutions include:

RESAP(2005)3 on Healthy Eating in Schools and
ResAP(2003)3 on Food and Nutritional Care in Hospitals.

The Council of Europe is also concerned with workers rights, including health professionals, as indicated by Recommendation Rec(2006)11 on trans-border mobility of health professionals and its implications for the functioning of health care systems
