| A dietitian is a person with a qualification in Nutrition & Dietetics recognised by national authority. The dietitian applies the science of nutrition to the feeding and education of groups of people and individuals in both health and disease. |
 | The European Dietetic Competence Statements, which describe what a dietitian should be able to do at the point of qualification, were unanimously adopted by the 20th EFAD General Meeting in September 2009. This is an important step for the dietetic profession in Europe and is a very notable outcome for the DIETS Thematic Network.
